This method involves the insertion of a new steel pipe – which has a diameter that is one increment smaller than that of the existing obsolete pipe – into and through the inside of the other said pipe. This method requires no excavation and can ensure earthquake resistance and a watertight structure through the use of welded joints. If the existing pipes are bending-rolled and longitudinally seam-welded in situ, it is possible to use a pipe having a diameter approximate to that of the other said pipe.
